1）写作方面：连续一段时间内，多次再现相同文体风格的文章，有利于提高学生对此类文体文章中的句法特点，文体结构风格的熟悉程度；而且，还有利于对素材的积累及写作模仿运用上的突破。
2）更好地使学生获得不同文体风格语篇带来的更强烈的情感体验，增强语感，有利于写作与阅读两方面能力的提高。
3）借助这条线索，帮助学生串联知识，以及巩固知识，发展能力的途径。
但有一点值得关注的是，教材中议论文、应用文这两种体裁的文章缺乏，恰好它们在高考作文中被考的几率很大。所幸在《备考指南》写作以及阅读理解专项训练这两部分里有着非常充足的议论文和应用文方面的写作、阅读资源及指导，较好地弥补了教材的不足。
例如：集中利用几篇课文都是人物描写的记叙文，发掘其中文段，指导学生掌握阅读微技能，提升语感，准确定位文章主旨、作者观点态度、文章标题以及学生对文章细节理解等都有积极且重要的作用。
