内容提要:任务型教学所谓的“任务”,简而言之,就是“做事”。在“做事”的过程中,学习者始终处于一种积极的、主动的学习心理状态,任务的参与者之间的交际过程是一种互动过程。
    庞继贤教授在《交际课堂的任务设计》一书的导读中指出:任务作为课堂教学的一种活动至少应具备以下三个特点。

T: Student A, Can you please give me your answers of Form one?
S: I think Henry was very happy and confident when he returned the bank note. For Oliver, he should be excited because he won the bet. But for his brother Roderick, hearing he lost the bet, he must be shocked and amazed because he couldn’t believe the whole thing.
T: Very good answer. Student B, I’m interested in what you think.
S: I think Portia was very naughty when she showed she knew the brothers, and she even made fun of Henry.
T: I’m surprised that you should think so. I think she may be teasing Henry, who knows!
S: When Henry found out the truth, he must be shocked and regretful because of what he said just now!
T: Exactly!
     [这三个表格的作用相当于整体阅读,学生们只有在充分理解文章的基础上才能够把这几个表格填出。这三个表格中的问题都是开放式的,没有什么标准答案,教师根据学生的回答给予适当的点评。]

My dear, the way you look today, it would be a crime not to ask for a good salary for the job they’ll give to me.
Oh, please remember that if we ask for too much we may get no salary at all.
You have got a job open that I want.
Yes, the bank note was worth millions of dollars, but not worth one tenth as much as how Henry felt about Portia.
T: There are some very interesting sentences in the text. Can somebody help me paraphrase them? The first sentence is “My dear, the way you look today, it would be a crime not to ask for a good salary for the job they’ll give to me.” Student A?
S: My dear Portia, you are very beautiful today. So I would ask the people who will employ me to give me a lot of money.
T: Yes, that’s true. We Chinese have a poem by a Tang poet Du Mu “一骑红尘妃子笑,无人知是荔枝来”, Emperor Tang Xuanzong would do anything for his favoured concubine Yang Guifei. He even went as far as getting litchi from the south of China by horse relay! So for Henry he had work very hard to support the beautiful lady and the family. Very hard job, eh! Be careful, boys, would you like to do anything for your true love?
Ss: Ha, ha, ha…
T: Second sentence: Oh, please remember that if we ask for too much we may get no salary at all. Student B?
S: Well, it probably means that if we are too greedy, they won’t give us the job and as a result we may have no money at all.
T: Very good explanation. Now sentence No. 3: You have a job open that I want. Student C, do you have any idea what the word “open” means here?
S: Does it have the same meaning as the word “ready”?
T: Sort of, not exact. Here it means “to be available and ready to use”. So the whole sentence means “You have got a job that is ready for me to take.” Last sentence: Yes, the bank note was worth millions of dollars, but not worth one tenth as much as how Henry felt about Portia. Student D, your understanding, please?
S: It’s hard to say but I think it means that Henry loves Portia very much.
T: That’s a good point. Actually it means that although the bank note was worth a lot of money, but compared to Henry’s love for Portia, it was almost nothing. In ancient times, one Chinese poem expressed a much stronger love in “上邪! 我欲与君相知,长命无绝衰。 山无陵,江水为竭,冬雷震震,夏雨雪,天地合,乃敢与君绝!”
     [本部分相当于语言点讲解。教师通过解释文中的四句话向学生介绍中西方爱情观和文化差异。学生反映比较热烈,因为爱是全人类共同的语言,尽管表达形式有所不同。]
T: Now the final part of our class: writing!
