内容提要：一、考题特征
1.注重语篇意识。
语法填空题是以语篇为载体，巧妙地将语法融入语境中考查。强调句子结构，注重篇章逻辑。
2.体现文化意识。
2008年广东高考英语语法填空考题所选的材料是一个家喻户晓的寓言故事——《拔苗助长》，反映了中国的传统文化，十分吻合高中英语课程中所要求的“文化意识”目标
三、解题思路
1.浏览全文，理清逻辑。
考生在解答语法填空题时始终不可脱离语篇。首先，考生要浏览全文，把握短文大意，理清句与句、段与段之间的逻辑关系，真正读懂短文。
2. 结合语境，试填空格。
读懂短文之后，要结合短文所提供的特定的语言环境，从句子结构的完整性去分析思考空格所缺单词的词性，再根据句子的结构和意义，以及句子之间的逻辑关系来确定具体要填的单词和所给词的正确形式。
3. 重读全文，断定答案。
考生填空完毕后，要重读全文，要从句与句、段与段和语篇的角度进行通盘考虑，解决个别难题和检查所填答案是否出错，力求答案完整无误。
下面，笔者以2008年广东高考英语语法填空真题为例，说明该类题的解题思路。
第二节语法填空
阅读下面短文，按照句子结构的语法性和上下文连贯的要求，在空格处填入一个适当的词或使用括号中词语的正确形式填空，并将答案填写在答题卡标号为31～40的相应位置上。
Chinese proverbs are rich and they are still widely used in Chinese people’s daily life. ___31___ these proverbs there are often interesting stories. For example, the proverb, “plucking up a crop ___32___ (help) it grow”, is based on the following story.
It is said that a short-tempered man in the Song Dynasty (960—1279) was very anxious to help ___33___rice crop grow up quickly. He was thinking about___34___day and night. But the crop was growing much slower than he expected.
One day, he came up with an idea ___35___he would pluck up all of his crop a few inches. He did so the next day.

His son heard about this and went to see the crop. Unfortunately the leaves of the crop began to wither.
