2001年，高盛首席经济学家吉姆•奥尼尔给我们起了个英文名“BRICs”，前4个大写字母分别对应巴西、俄罗斯、印度、中国四个新兴市场国家的首字母。

The term "BRICs", first coined by Jim O'Neill, the chief economist of Goldman Sachs in 2001, was the acronym for four big emerging economies and leading developing countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China.

2010年，南非加入，我们改名叫“金砖国家（BRICS）”。

你可能会问了，金砖国家有什么特别的？就知道你会问！我们：

有地！国土面积占世界领土面积26.46%。

有人！人口占世界总人口42.58%。

有钱！在世界银行的投票权占13.24%。

在国际货币基金组织的份额达14.91%。
Together, they account for 26.46 percent of the world's land area, 42.58 percent of the world's population, 13.24 percent of World Bank voting power and 14.91 percent of IMF quota shares.

2006年，借着联合国大会的东风，中、俄、印、巴四国外长碰了个面，“金砖”小伙伴走上了合作之路。

The foreign ministers of the initial four BRIC states - Brazil, Russia, India and China - met in New York in September 2006 （on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly's annual General Debate, beginning a series of high-level meetings）.

从2009年开始，我们每年都会聚到一起，这可不是为了喝喝茶、聊聊天，而是谈合作、促交流、谋发展！

10年来，我们的合作范围越来越广泛，经贸、金融、农业、教育等等领域都留下了我们协作奋战的身影。

Thanks to 10 years of unremitting efforts, BRICS cooperation in agriculture, trade, education and finance has yielded rich fruits.

我们成立了个银行，2015年7月21日金砖国家新开发银行（New Development Bank）开业。

建立了应急储备安排，2014年7月15日，签署《关于建立金砖国家应急储备安排的合约》。还在联合国、G20等国际组织中密！切！合！作！

目前，我们的经济总量在世界经济中的比重从12%上升到23%，对全球经济增长贡献超过了50%！

In 2016, the BRICS' weight in the global economy rose to 23 percent, up from 12 percent 10 years ago. They also contribute 50 percent to world economic growth.

2017年，中国接任金砖国家主席国。

China took the BRICS rotating presidency this year.

到目前，我们已经开了不少会了。外长们忙着商议联合反恐，财长和央行行长促财政金融合作……

The BRICS foreign ministers met in Beijing on June 18-19, calling for a global fight against terrorism. The BRICS finance ministers and central bank governors agreed to strengthen cooperation in several fiscal and financial areas in Shanghai on June 19.

除此之外，你们的“爱豆”们也来啦，6月23日，第二届金砖国家电影节（BRICS Film Festival）在成都举行！

我们五国小伙伴还增加了新活动——开个运动会！今年6月17日，来自五个国家近300名运动员参加了第一届金砖国家运动会（the first BRICS Games）。

同时，文化节、传统医药交流活动也被提上了日程。五国小伙伴玩得不亦乐乎，友谊更加牢靠！

The BRICS nations began to further their cooperation in the area of culture and traditional Chinese medicine.

9月3日至5日，我们要在厦门搞个“大趴体”！没错！就是2017年金砖国家领导人会晤！

这次的主题是“深化金砖伙伴关系，开辟更加光明未来 （BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future）”。

属于我们的下一个“黄金十年”马上就要开始啦！
