Part A: Reading aloud
In this part, you are required to watch a video clip and the read after the speaker in the video.

Under the effect of global warming, ∧the ice cap has lost 40% of its thickness ∧in 40 years. Its surface area in the summer ∧ shrinks ∧year by year. It could disappear ∧ before 2030. Some predictions suggest 2015. Soon these waters will be free of ice ∧ several summer months a year. The sunbeams ∧ that the ice sheet previously reflected back ∧ now penetrate the dark water, ∧ heating it up. The warming process ∧gathers pace. This ice contains the record of our planet. The concentration of carbon dioxide ∧ hasn't been so high ∧ for several hundred thousand years. Humanity ∧ has never lived in an atmosphere ∧ like this.
注：上列的符号“∧”表示换气或稍作停顿。
注意事项：录音时，要注意与视频片段的图片上的文字保持一致，若一味求快，容易造成心情紧张而念错；若过慢，会造成心情慌张跟不上图片的内容而发错音，同时也影响下面句子的朗读，因为视频播放时是不可逆的。考生进行录音时，心情要坦然，心绪要沉静，把握节奏，语速保持中速，语音语调到位即可。
(2)角色扮演应试技巧：细心判断对话要点，准确筛选关键信息。
广东高考英语听说测试中的第二板块是角色扮演(role play)。在这一板块的测试时，计算机屏幕上先显示出汉语提示，说明考生所要扮演的角色、对话的主题和测试要求。见下图：
角色：学生
任务：（1）和同学谈论各自大学生活的情况。
（2）根据对话内容问另一个同学问题。
然后要求考生听一段对话，共听两遍，接着考生以汉语提示的角色与计算机进行对话，考生根据计算机屏幕上出现的三个汉语句子用英语进行提问，而计算机以另外一个角色回答考生三个问题。每道问题所给时间为20秒。如2012年的听说测试样题所示：

(考生：Do you have to do part time job?)
2．毕业后你想做什么？
(考生：What are you going to do after your graduation?)
3．你已决定按照你父母的愿望去做吗？
(考生：Have you made up your mind to do what your parents expect you to?)
(考生：Have you decided to do what your parents want you to?)
接下来，考生与计算机进行角色对换，计算机向考生提问五个问题，考生在听完计算机的提问之后，从所听到对话的内容以及从先前计算机回答考生提问的内容中选择符合每道问题的有效信息进行回答。如2012年高考英语听说测试样题所示：

3. Computer: Why did Maria say that she is lucky?
4. Computer: What kind of job do Maria's parents want her to do after graduation?

这部分的回答时间和提问时间一样，每小题都是二十秒，因此考生在进行答题时首先要抓住每道题的要点，以最简练的方式回答问题。能用短语回答问题的尽量用短语回答。如第4小题考生回答时可以用“to become a teacher in a college”或 “to be a teacher in a university”就完全可以了。不过有些题还是要用完整句子来回答，如第3小题，考生回答时必须这么说： “Because she has got afour-year scholarship to pay for her schooling fees and it is not easy for a student to get it.So she said she was lucky.”
