A voluntary activity is now being held in our school, aimed at collecting books for children in poor areas in China.
The activity “For the Children” was advocated by a retired teacher, Mr. Sun, who is now teaching in a small middle school in a remote village in Yu’nan. According to him, students there are eager to learn, but are so poor that they can’t afford books. Mr Sun said we can donate books to help build a library for them.
So at lunchtime this week, students in our school gather at the school hall to donate their books which are then sorted, packed and delivered to Yu’nan by mail. Children’s books, novels, science fictions and comic strips are quite popular. I gave away dozens of my favorite books and hoped students there would like them.
It is amazing to help build a library for people in need! Children there will have plenty of books to read as well as a better learnin g environment. A little more effort, and we can make a big difference!

My friend Li Hua was born in a province in the south of China. He was paralyzed in both legs in a car accident when he was young. Although he suffers a great deal, he doesn’t lose heart.
