W: Excuse me, could you help me?

M: Sure.

W: I need some help with this arrival card–I’m afraid I left my glasses at home.

M: Oh, OK, well let me find a … I had one somewhere–oh, here’s my pen. All right then– your name?

W: Vanderpyl–that’s V-A-N-D-E-R-P-Y-L.

M: OK.

W: And my first name’s Theresa–T-H-E-R-E-S-A.

M: OK. Passport number?

W: E51448859

M: OK. E51448859. Coming from?

W: Hong Kong.

M: A nice short flight. I’m coming all the way from San Francisco.

W: Uh-huh. So, um…address in Singapore?

W: The Hilton Hotel, Orchard Road.

M: Hmm, The Hilton, Orchard Road. Is that O-R-C-H-A-R-D?

W: That’s right.

M: Um, the length of stay?

W: Oh, ah, four days.

M: And our flight number is …?

W: Oh, let’s see. I have my boarding pass right here. OK, it’s AA451.

M: Great. You just have to sign at the bottom.

W: I think I can manage that. Thanks very much for your help.

M: You’re welcome. Oh, I’m Jim McGiven, by the way.

W: Nice to meet you Jim.

W: Hi, you’re Rick, aren’t you?

M: Yeah, that’s right. And you’re Peggy Sue, aren’t you? I haven’t seen you since we were kids!

W: Oh, I know. Gosh, I hate to think…it must’ve been, oh, twenty years ago.

M: Oh, at least!

W: Well, it was nice of you to come all this way.

M: Oh, I was happy to.

W: Oh, gosh, that’s so sweet. You know, we have people here from all over the place. Do you recognize everyone?

M: Hmm, I think…Wait a minute. Who’s that in the yellow dress?

W: In the yellow…Oh, that’s Aunt Gertrude from Chicago.

M: Gee, she’s so thin now!

W: I know. I think she’s gone a bit too far with her dieting.

M: That’s for sure. Who’s that talking to her? That can’t be…

W: Oh, yes, it is. Good old Uncle Morty.

M: Wow! He’s gotten so big.

W: I know.

M: Does he live around here?

W: Oh, gosh no! He’s still in New York. You’d never get him to move out here.

M: Hmm…who’s that woman over there with the long hair?

W: Long hair, let me see…Oh, you mean in the orange dress? That’s Cousin Emily.

M: Oh, I don’t think I’ve ever met her.

W: OH, really, I’ll have to introduce you. She lives with her family in Bermuda. So we don’t see her very often.

M: And Aunt Jean. She’s looking so old.

W: That’s not too surprising—she is old. She must be, gosh, in her eighties by now.

M: Her eighties? Wow. Does she still live in Boston?

W: Oh, no, no. She left Boston. She moved to Atlantic City a few years back.

M: Well, it’s been great talking to you, but I guess I should go now and meet some of these long-lost relatives.

W: OK. Great to see you, too.
