The fire drill began at four o’clock that afternoon and was finished in five minutes. It aimed at improving our ability to protect and save ourselves when a fire broke out. All the teachers and students, about 4000 in total, took part in the drill. When the bell rang, all the people rapidly got out of the classrooms and offices and reached the very place on the playground safely within the limited time. The drill has greatly raised our awareness of safety, so we believe such serious, beneficial drills are worth carrying out.
To deal with parental separation from freshman children, American colleges held parting ceremonies, where parents accompanying their children to campus are urged to depart. The move is intended to benefit the independent growth of students.
